Indie isn't a type of programming language. It's a type of game. Silverlight may not be compatible with the OUYA, which is the main problem when wanting to play games on different platforms.

Oh sorry, didn't notice that you put your reply in the quote, not below it like EVERYONE else does. -.- And yeah, it does have to be silverlight compatible, unless they want to spend months, if not a few years recoding EVERYTHING in Afterwind so it works on the Xbox or whatever the hell you want it on. And keep in mind, this is just ONE developer, not 50 of them. It'd take years making the game compatible for another platform, while he could be spending that time making updates for the current one.

It took something like 4 years for Amok to program afterwind i believe, admittedly it would be easier to port it onto a console, but not for a while. Our Best bet is that someone creates a silverlight Extenstion/app for Ouya, then it will be about creating a more controller-friendly UI and movement. btw this has already been discussed, I asked amok and he said he has no interest in porting it, Afterwind will be Avaliable on Windows 8 tablet because silverlight will come pre-installed, there are currently no know plans for anyone to put silverlight on android, but if silverlight because popular, it most likely will, and apple will never ever support flash or silverlight on it's OS, so Ipads will never support Afterwind. My take on Ouya, i don't like it, it will encourage moregames like facebook games, boring, monotonous time filler chore games, that punish silly people with $500+ worth of microtransations not because you have become addicted as such, but because you have made a habit of going on there every day and just want to be the best.

What Ordnung said. Not that I think Afterwind would be playable with a gamepad anyway. A tablet though, maybe, but that obviously ain't happening. Also, while I like its open source ideals and I think they will contribute to its success--I doubt it will meet much success at all. My reasoning is that the specs are outdated even by 7th generation console standards. Just to think the 8th generation of stationary consoles is coming out soon with the debut of the Wii U. This will get left very far behind. As for other aspects, I think it's a brilliant idea, and the Android operating system is a good choice. It's very lightweight and it's based on Linux, arguably the most technologically advanced operating system in existence. Yes, it's better than microkernel-based OSs Mr Tannenbaum. The fact Android is based on Linux is a big strength of the OUYA. Many pre-existing game libraries and some engines work on Linux and porting them to Android should be a piece of cake. Therefore, I don't think that there will be much of a fuss for developers to get their games to run on the OUYA. The specs remain a limiting factor and I think that's why this will fail. One thing I don't like about commentators is how they claim that this expands the fragmentation of Android... which is a load of bullcrap! Games written for Android phones and tablets won't work for this... because the input just won't be right! The software will run on it, as long as the right drivers are included. So please stop thinking in terms of Android, think in terms of OUYA! I love the name by the way. But yeah, the specification might change. Probably won't! I'd stick 4GB RAM in there and bump the price to $120 if that was me--small price raise, massive difference. Then again, as it is Linux, it could use swap space (the system uses a portion of the hard drive as RAM, awesome feature). Still, if the hardware of the OUYA is improved, this has the potential to become a big player. And thanks to its nature, game developers would be all the way behind it. That's my judgement on it.
