Ocean, last country in Europe (in the corner), tourism, trade, port for incoming trade from Americas, pretty much powerful.
Smart nations do not use armies to pursue interested anymore, so if you going to rely on the military - you lose automaticaly.
It would be funny to watch small countries militarizing and trying to dominate the world, like Nazi Germany

why test tube... every second comment about them is 'propaganda', it is simple as that, you can see they only talk positive about US and everything bad about the rest. Every first comment is 'how strong is Kazakhstan' though.

Instead of investing in a standing army, focussing on improving the unemployment rate (currently 13% and 30% for the youth) would be smarter imo.
This goes for most countries not just Portugal.
