I like Ancient Egypt, after Ancient Greece, since i have Greek ancestry i feel Ancient Greece as my own past, which kind of reduce the exoticness.

I also rate Ancient Rome very low, i guess i dislike their imperialism and show of force. I tell this because i have a feeling majority of people like Rome.

How can you rate Greece very high and Rome very low when the latter was largely based on the former

You answered your question: Rome copied Greece.

Greece was about learning and thinking, discoveries in science. It didn't think about expanding and conquering, but after 2 Persian invasions they had a right to invade back and the rest is history.

Rome was about imperialism, expanding and capturing neighbors to have more income, it was about economy. Sure it was twice attacked by Carthage, and they defeated them, but then conquered 90% of the known world. Greece never had such intentions.

They had decent organization, some discoveries and techniques but nothing compared to civilizations i posted above.

Illyria is classiffied as a 'culture' not civilization. Just like 7000 years old Vincha culture in Serbia or 5000 old Afanasevo culture in Kazakhstan.

they had same language, same culture and traiditions. Big trades with neighbours on land and sea both and it was a good shortcut for eastern trades torwards Rome. They had big citys and ports built (for that time)

Its arguable but i consider them as a civilisation

For me I go back and forth between Ancient Rome and Ancient greece and with which one I like more.

Romans are seriously pretty cool and has in my opinion one of the most interesting and dynamic histories of an empire that has ever existed. Ancient greece is much the same for me considering how they acted, how they fought and their empires too.

I feel bad for saying this but history outside of Europe and Anatolia is extremely uninteresting to me (even japan, since thats usually the one exception)

I think roman history has been boosted too much by TV, movies, etc. It wasn't a perfect society, it was full of corruption, selfish senators, asshole generals, huge wealth gaps, biased trials... but it really was one of the most exciting, interesting and important moments in european history. We're basically a roman empire 2.0 after all.

I'd probably prefer Ancient Greece as a place to live in. Personally, I have little clue as to how people lived in Persia, China and mayan empire at that time so.... I wouldn't know if I'd like it there. Although I admit it seems really exotic the idea of living in ancient Egypt, maybe I'd like it. I would finally know how the fuck they'd build those huge pyramids!

By forcing thousands of slaves to work in terrible conditions and most likely die in the process.

Trade is for survival of majority and luxury for minority. Illyrians didn't build monuments, large cities, didn't leave us documents about their State organization, administration and hierarchy. They didn't give us documents about their science breakthrough or art forms. All we know is that there was some Kingdom of Illyria which was thalassocracy and had trade skills.

Still better reason and bigger survival chance than in Roman Colosseum.

Just imagine, you wake up on the warm morning, go outside and take a deep breath of watery smell coming from the Nile mixed with sandy desert air. You hear frogs on the riverbank, you take a look left and see lazy crocodiles in the Nile and Pyramids beyond, Sphinx probably staring at you. Then you look right and see camels and barren wasteland beyond. Magnificent.

If you live in Ancient Rome, you wake up on chilly morning and when you go outside you see traders yelling, conceited soldiers parading and city slaves groaning under heavy labor

Yeah well... that's the dark side of the story and there's probably more to it. Everyone had slaves back then as well. On the other hand, slaves can't lift up those heavy rocks by hand and it's perfectly built.... I wanna know the way they built it

Hahaha yeah, living in Rome itself wouldn't be that far away from today's cities... probably even worse. If I were to live in the roman empire, I'd go to a village mansion

On the other hand, that's probably how everyone would imagine living in Egypt. Surrounded by sand on one side and by the Nile on the other side, working on your little cultivation and sometimes going to the city market (probably Memphis, a great city with lots of history, or Thebes, another interesting place), where you'd probably see many things... BUT you could also imagine yourself living in Alexandria, one of the most populated ancient cities, famous for its library, all its knowledge, the oldest lighthouse ever, the port, etc. As Greece, it has many curious aspects and interesting places.

it's true everyone had slaves but Egyptians were the ones who treated them worst by far. In Greece, Rome, Persia, Carthage etc. a slave was a human who had to serve someone, in Egypt he was little more than a tool.

Just like the Western colonialists Also the arab slave trade, most notably in Africa was quite demeaning.

You've got that wrong. Slaves in Egypt served the Pharaoh or the country, depends on how you see it. Anyway, don't believe that Romans treated too well their slaves, they could do whatever they pleased with them. They could beat them, embarass them in front of other people, use them as human shields, even sexually harass them... There's people that actually treated them well tho.

Another difference is that Egyptian slaves were acquired through war (most of the times), meanwhile Roman slaves could be acquired through war or black market (in a higher percentage than usual)...
