I have been playing a decent amount of RP recently and it made me get to thinkIng about what if there was a game in similar fashion to AtWar, but where it is almost totally realistic in the facts of that the RP that you are used to pretending with the other players becomes a reality that the game accepts by giving you many different choices of types of government, economy, foreign relations, etc. and with these the game creates a realistic tie between them and how they would effect your country and the rest of the world in all different ways. I was recently inspired when bringing this idea of mine up in a RP game and receiving a decent amount of excitement and want for something of the sort that I decided to begin making this game a true reality. I would love and will take into account any and all suggestions for this game and the aspects of it. I also will answer any and all questions about it to the best of my ability as well as I encourage any and all questions to be asked.

You have just described Victoria II, by Paradox Development Studios. Varied foreign relations? Check. Different types of economy? Check. Interactive internal politics? Check. What you seem to want is not a custom scenario for AtWar, but rather a custom-modified Victoria II game. There are several nation-state simulators that explores economic and political issues in some depth. AtWar is not one of them. It is not possible to include those factors in any kind of realistic way into AtWar games except through complicated and un-enforceable rules that few people will read and fewer still follow. But I wish you good luck anyways.

I'm not saying that I want to change AtWar itself, but that I like the way AtWar plays more than many strategy games and would like to see through several experiments how well a game it would work with AtWar's simplicity with the addition of the exact complexity that I imagine and that could possibly be added. And one thing that I have learned is if you want a game exact to your imagination you will not find it, you just have to make it.

Actually I've only played sapien once. What brought me the idea of this game was the Embers of War RP. Sapien is more of an epic map that brings you through time, not exactly a RP in my experience.

Guys he has a good idea, he wants to essentially have Victoria 2, with all of its complexity and realistic scenarios, But combine it and mutate it into a Atwar game of simplicity. so to recap he wants Victoria 2, but in a way where people can actually understand the game, and not just randomly click until they find out what does what. Ive been playing Vicky 2 since it dropped and i still dont know how to work the Market place. Atwar took me a week to learn how to play. Also he never said he wanted to create a RP map or what ever, he said he was going to create a browser based sim which will be awesome you guys are hating ^.^ Its a good idea Epic, if they dont like it, then just tell them, yall dont have play. Im pretty sure hes looking for constructive criticism and legit people who are interested in his game, not Die Hard Atwar fanatics who will tear his idea to shreds -_-

Victoria II is a really easy game to learn, though. Sure, it's slightly more complex than AtWar is, but It's incredibly user-friendly and basically explains itself. It really shouldn't take anyone "a week" just to learn how to play decently. A couple hours, at the maximum, of fiddling around with this and that and you should have a good idea of how everything works, since quite a few numbers in Victoria II has tooltips that show you how that number is calculated. It took me about 30 minutes to roughly figure out all the basics in my first game (as the Netherlands), and the only reason it took me that long is that I'm not really that good at learning new video games. Victoria II is really as simple and easy-to-learn as it can possibly be without losing its socio-political and economic flavour.

I checked out Victoria II and I see what you were saying because it does have all the aspects I mentioned and seems like a very fun game that I would totally get if I didn't have a Mac But like Carter was saying, my goal is a much toned down and simpler version of Victoria and if anything is closer to AtWar, but with a more complex economy, politics, fiscal etc.

Maybe buildings (new kind of unit) works for any of this aspects. So, i think Amok and Ivan should add another variable that influences war IRL, outside income and reinforcements: 1. Food. Yes, you can't have a huge army if you don't have food, water and good lands to produce it. This could be a new variable outside income and be decreased with the attacks on the city. 2. Industry. Another critical variable, you can't build tanks, planes, ships if you doesn't have industry. Damaging "food" variable means less troops and less industry means less "technological" units.

It's not a new game he's proposing, though. He just described AtWar exactly as it is, just by using different words. "1. Food. Yes, you can't have a huge army if you don't have food..." Gee, that sure sounds like "reinforcements"! I wonder why? "2. Industry. [...] You can't build tanks, planes, ships if you don't have industry..." Gee, that sure sounds a lot like "income"!

No, that's not it. He wants to have reinf, but be unusable without food for infantry and be unusable without industry.

One thing that i really like and want to implement is the External Income through trade, tarrifs, etc. And if you dont have the resources for something then you need to develope trade relations with someone who does. A great Example would be Japan. If you start with Japan, a country that has litterally none of its essential needs to survive and much less thrive, then you need to either begin trading with US, Australia, India, etc. Or you need to attack China for their resources which adds a fun and new variable and play to a simplistic game like At War without making it quite as complex as a game at the scale of Victoria

Dont turn this into an allyfaguing way. just as i described, it could be possible (at least for scenarios, because 3v3 are narbs and other things.. XD) use that variables outside the classical 2 variables we have now in atwar. For example, Nigeria. Nigeria income could be a little bit decent (250 or 300) so IRL, Nigeria doesn't have so many food and so many industries. If Lagos have 8 reinf by default population, if Lagos city have 20 of the variable "food" and "50" of the variable industry, he means he can only build, from that 8 reinfs; 2 infantry max at the start and 4 tanks max (think on it as percentages). So, i think this can't happen in atwar for now, unless Ivan and Amok allies with paradox and transform atwatr into an online version of Europa universalis or Victoria....

AtWar is perfectly fine as it is now. What would be better is allowing map makers to do any such jiggerypokery with 'food' and 'industry' on their own custom or cloned maps rather than screwing around with the actual default maps everyone plays and enjoys.

I heavily agree with Millennial because im not at all offering up a change to AtWar, i am talking about making an entirely new game that has been inspired by AtWar. And i would love it if map makers could screw around with such things or maybe if a mode specifically for Premium accounts were available that had similar things, just to mix it up a bit.

Possibly a new game, and for the mode part you mentioned... meh. That'd take time to implement to atwar as Ivan and amok are the only two( I think) who update the game and they stated how it's not easy to make many updates when it's just the two of them. The game would need to expand and the admins would need more money to help expand the staff/game itself to meet the demands of players.

I like the idea but I think the main basis for AtWar's point of existance is its simplicity, however, I do not discard totally a different approach using what you proposed in some maps, but still, simplicity is the way to go, for now..

I suggest make it an option to include food and see how that ends up, would be good for rps but for some scenarios it wont work well i fear. Let's see what amok and ivan think about it.

Mine( world 2016 map based on real data) is the most realistic even if some players think different (cuz they haven't even tried the map, they have just look at it) I have created lots of scenarios with this map. WW3 is the prittiest. That is the WW3 Scenario http://prntscr.com/bqdqf2 . If you want to try this before just consider that it has been made with realistic data of 2014-2016. 1.000.000 people= 1 reinforcement. (china and india could appear a bit op but they are not) . The economy is based on the national GDP of the state considered in ratio 1/1.000.000 of the real economy. The oil production is the realistic in ratio 1/10 bbl and gives money set in US$ . Every country has its own Reserve of Foreign exchange and reserve's of gold in ratio 1/1.000.000 US$ .The start income of a country is based on its own real defense budget proportionally to the United States( cuz every player can have no more money at start). That's the equation =581.000.000.000(american budget) : 50000(max of income x player) = (considered country's defense budget) : x . The price of every unit is set to the US$. 1 money in the map corresponds to 100.000 $ US. The power of the units is personal (hoping that is right). You have a high quantity of troops (moreless 200). Every country has it's own troops. Borders have been created by Adolphin the rest is all mine. Complessive hours of work: 200. People as Al-Fappino try to convince mods that my map is sp farmin cuz their jelous or because they didnt even try it. All i want to say to this people is that, if I had to compare my map with Fapp's one the result would be : my map is 3 times more populated and his one is 3 times richer. Just for example india has 1.251.000.000 people right? in this map for the ratio that i have chosen india has 1251 reinforcement every 4 turns. That sounds tooooo op right? it isn't just because Indian GDP is 4.999.000.000 US$ = 4999 money x turn in the game and this makes india to make a limited number of troops. I want to write this for mr. Al-Fapp that tries to threaten me. FIRST THING FIRST adolphin's map is free for all, all of us can benefit of his work I DO NOT care if he was your friend, he was mine's too and first to leave gave his account to MrPhobos ! SECOND you cannot threaten me to delete my maps just of your arrogant behavior and jealousy. THIRD i have spoken with adolphins and i have his message as prove ( he said he felt happy of what I did in fact he suggested me how to delete his own rules out of the map) FOUR I've talked to Sun-Tzu and he said that i haven't to worry about this, and possibly to ignore you. Anyway. is there anyone of you who knows how to add aircraft carriers on a map? I've tried but i cannot transport airplanes : helpppp! PS . The map is a bit complicated be patient. Work in progress !
