I think the elo culmination is growing. I find people with higher elo than before especially mecoy and Prometheus. I notice Clovis tend to be 200 elo more than me at the highest.

Can you as a part of a moderator team... explain to me finally... why clovis wasnt banned and his elo removed even tho he did the same thing. Why was he let to affect the outcome of a season in a last second and why did that earn him Player of the year awards...

Yes elo cumulation is growing. It is simply from a larger dueling base, more low ranks to feed players, who in turn feed other better players, who feed the top duelers. Also many of the "top tier" players are semi-inactive or inactive completely. That makes for a smaller field of players at the top and thus some players reaching higher elo peaks. This trend will continue as long as the game grows and adds more players, elo ratings are just going to keep going up. No big deal, just I would not compare someone who reaches 1500 elo today, with someone who did maybe a year ago.

Used to think that before, but two facts changed my mind: - High ranks with good elo going inactive is what removes a considerable amount of ELO from the poor, acting as a counter to the elo poor and making it hard to get elo. -Before you didn't had a 512 ELO limit. You could play low ranks and still grow your elo for forever (Bluecher style). If anything I find it harder to get ELO than when panteri/crey/Syrian/Dragon were active.. they took a good Damm of ELO with them.

Nice, really good points Clovis. I had not thought of that. You are certainly right that there is a ton of "lost" elo from players who are sitting on large piles of it. Also the fact that we can get zero elo from some wins, and in the past you could always get elo. I still tend to think the amount of players is slowly boosting elo gains. However,1500 elo is still a huge achievement, and an even bigger achievement is that elusive 1600 elo club (not to mention 1700!!). With season elo, overall elo matters a lot less though. Which I happen to like, I love that we have season as well as overall elo so we can see who is playing the best of the active players, while still letting old guys keep their hard earned elo.

It's because higher ranks are allowed to verse lower ranks - even if they earn 1-3 ELO per win it's inflating the ELO by 'x'% which is leading to higher ELO's and diminishing ELO's like 1100, which used to represent decent skill (not anymore). I see so many players versing R5 and R4's (not talking just about Matthew008, but even supporter). They haven't done anything wrong, but something should be implemented to fix this, and reduce the inflation before it goes crazy and ELO becomes worthless.

Elo will never be worthless, no matter how high it gets. Elo really is a great system and will always represent players skill as long as we eliminant farming. Dueling low ranks in itself is not farming, it is simply playing players below your skill level, it becomes farming when that is all you play. I for one have been called "the cleanest" dueler by people such as clovis, and others who are dueling everyday. Yet this does not prevent me from dueling low ranks as I do not like to kick people form my duels if they join. Also another shout out to Admins and Mod staff, removing the option to create duels within ffa games should help prevent much of the farming that takes place, and if not completely prevent farming from players such as "Matthew" make it abundantly clear when they do actually farm now.

Elo can be very flawed. In order to be completely faithful to its aim, many details should be fulfilled: - Everyone should play everyone with a periodic interval. - Playing a lower percentage of low ranks (0-5/6) than that of high ranks. - Playing enough high elo players in order to have a representative amount of elo in comparison to those who have earned a lot of elo before. - Duels should be done in every single map, with every single starting settings, in any possible country against any other possible country. - Etc. To sum up, everyone would have to prove his skills on every single circumstance in order to have a representative amount of elo depending on his skills. The more variability in the scenarios one would play and the broader variance of players one plays against, the more faithful his elo is. Does this happen? In my opinion, no. I don't think elo is really worth, no matter how high or low it is at this very moment, and I certainly believe it doesn't represent quite faithfully our real skill level. My only proposal this far would be to have blind duels, meaning not being able to choose who we duel against nor the map and settings we duel in.

Nice points Raul^ I Agree 100% with you, maybe I was not clear in my post but I don't think elo is a perfect representation of skill, just that it is not worthless and certainly reflects players skill to a large degree. Regarding dueling on different maps I actually made a suggestion awhile back about this that gained some traction, but like most suggestions gradually sank into the pits of the forums. It is hard to judge players because of how diverse of a playing field we have with maps and settings, but the system we have in place right now is a pretty damn good one.

Excellent proposal. I think that I suggested before to make random duels and add to the poor certain maps and settings, that were previously approved for 1vs1 gameplay. We could also lower the current elo difference limit (512 ELO) Even lower, to discourage elo farm. I think that 256 max ELO difference is a good limit(after that you earn 0 ELO)

Overall, it would be objectively much fairer. Not sure what would it mean in terms of fun and joy factors involving duels though. As for the decreasing of the elo limit in order to gain some elo, I'm all for it!

lie? Do you wish for me to publish the discussion? I will only do so with your permission. It details why some of your elo was restored but really doesn't show you in a good light. I do not wish to air your dirty laundry since this is all in the past but i will if you are going to make this a personal thing. It would be far simpler if you did not come to the forums slandering players(and mods) especially when you aren't exactly an angel yourself.

Obviously nobody reported him. I assume nobody cared since he wasn't in the running for the topspot that season. Whereas in el creys case his gambling with unknown gamer placed him at no.1. People cared, people reported. Same with soldier.

Just want to let it clear that I didn't tried to escape from the punishment. I can see how elo gambles affects the competitions now (I admit that, before , I didn't cared enough since I though that the medals were a joke). I believe that you shouldn't be punished for unwritten rules, as it's rather the rules's fault for adopting that format and not being complete enough. Either way:

lol do you want to be punished? soldier didnt report you over a year ago when you apparently were farming. Him and el are only complaining now a year after the fact so they can whine about how biased the mods were towards them when they fully deserved what they got. I don't see the point so long after. It is not like you reoffended. Once my lightshot is working again ill post the discussion on el's punishment since he was so convinced there was personal bias on my part involved and he is innocent.(fun fact i wasnt even a mod at the time of this punishment.)
