Considering we are under days of decadency, the classical music isn't teach anymore, properly, and everyone call " Music " the most common song by some woman yelling in her micro, using tons of artificial effects. Nor u cannot deny that classical music finds its place into another atmosphere, the feelings that it brings u to, the complexity of it that challenge your mind, the beauty of the harmony, the awesomeness of mere instrument. Here is a selection of true music for those who would like an introduction to classical music that can be esoteric sometimes (unfortunately i only chose two pieces by the major composer that are mozart and beethoven, i will add Bach later of course) if u want more about some composers ask me in comment or feel free to introduce what u like. BEETHOVEN : Piano pieces : Sonate n°23 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QImFm4Y_QPM (!!) Sonate n°8 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqvBJc9IovI Sonate n° 14 (so-called moonlight sonate, but only the 3rd movement) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zucBfXpCA6s Symphonies : N°5 : (1st movement is one of the most known piece of music but the following movements are great too, specially the 3rd one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6z4KK7RWjmk N°7 : (u all know the 3rd movement of this) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MqrBauptrE Strings quatuor : N° 18 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZGv6fiaJAE (!!) N°1 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXLKu-HglnM MOZART Piano pieces : Sonate 8 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRgxY8VUOz8 (!) Sonate 14 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKtxbloW-ZQ Symphonies : n° 40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTc1mDieQI8 n°25 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNeirjA65Dk (!) Quatuor : N° 15 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAQditfakOo (!) N° 19 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuMs8kD5Des (Just another piece for clarinet, the favorite instrument of Mozart : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mKUYMQsFwM ). BACH (although Bach belongs to the baroque music) First of all : Concerto for piano (even if at his time piano didn't existed) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osg_WmeLxQk&t=454s Prelude english suite n°2 (u find it in the schindler list) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlGrCRyztR8 Vocal piece (St-Matthew passion, u can cry, it's made for that) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBeXF_lnj_M ____________________ PS : Just want to precise that this is only an introduction for unexperienced people, most of those pieces are well known. For those who think that classical music include everything that is old-fashioned, here is a summary :

Classical music sucks. Music from the romantic era is so much better.

Well actually mozart and beethoven are considered (specially beethoven) as pre-romantic. But it's your opinion, although without classical music u wouldn't have romantic music.

I like classical and romantic music especially because I like piano and I'm saddened for the fact I did not inherit my grandmas genes of mastering the piano and you've got a nice taste but sometimes just because something's mainstream, doesn't mean everything else has died and it's not taught anymore, because classical music is still widely taught. Edit: Tchaikovsky and Chópin are good composers too btw, (ik Chópin's a romantic era but still)

Music is an art form and like all art forms, it's artists are always compelled to inovat there platform. There is nothing wrong with liking classically music, just like there is nothing wrong with studying renaissance literature and art. But it is asinine to deal in absolutes when actually it is just an opinion.

As long as you include Beethoven and Schubert as Romantic period composers (and most scholars do), absolutely.

Love this! Thanks for posting. Personally, Baroque music is my favorite: Vivaldi and Bach are my two favorite composers. So I would suggest adding Vivaldi. Specifically, his Violin Concerti. Bach has just so much you can't help not writing down all of his best works... As a classically trained pianist, I would suggest adding to the Bach list his Capriccio from the Partita No.2 in c minor, which is one of my favorite pieces to play. I just love it! Nice choices on Beethoven.

I'm getting really bad vibes from this thread. i really am. i am getting bad pictures in my head. mozart, bach, big displays to show people that classical music doesnt include the moody blues,or ted nugent. romantic bullshit. people are stupid. everyone just lives out in the bushes with the twigs and the pigs. only 12 people on the planet can dig this stuff, no one else has heard this kind of music before blaaaaaaah, blaaaaaaaah, bafooey. you are sitting there in your chair house shoes, boxers, and robe on. 1 hand in your pants, the phone has some porno on it, the other hand on the mouse, playing atwar, so when your mom, walks through the room it looks like you are having a serious, intellectual coversation. just got to the bathroom or out in the back yard. play the game and not with your pecker.
