Alright, summer vacations are over and we're gearing up to continue game development. Meanwhile, we would be happy to reply to any questions you might have. Whether it's about the game, future updates or something unrelated - go ahead, ask here in this topic.

The thread will be active for one week - during that time we promise to answer every question posted.

OK, let's try something fun here. Post a piece of AW-related 'art' (masterpiece painting, crude drawing, rage comic, motivational poster, lame photoshop, whatever) and win premium membership! The prizes are the following:

1st place - Full package
2nd place - 6 months subscription
3rd place - 3 months subscription
4th and 5th places - 1 month subscription

No idea how many people would be willing to participate, but the less there are, the higher is your chance of winning!

Those of you who already have full package are welcome to join in as well, just for fun.

The contest will be closed on the 9th of August. Good luck!

Good news for those of you who can't keep up with the break-neck pace of the 2-min turn games or don't have time to play for several hours non-stop. Today we unveil "casual" games - with 12-24 hour turns! Everything works the same as in regular games - except the turn length and the ability to safely leave the game and come back the next day to continue it.

New lobby filter
There's a new switch in the lobby for quick/casual games. Each type also has 3 rooms - Main, Beginners and Coalition Wars (which means 6 rooms in total). If you change the type during the game, it will be automatically moved to the appropriate room - for example, if you change turn length from 4 minutes to 12 hours, this game will be moved to the Casual Main room. Old filters are still available if you click the 'show filters' link in the middle.

Players without PayPal accounts can now unlock Premium features by phone or SMS. The service is available in 50 countries, the price of the pack varies depending on your local currency and provider (around 2 USD).

Regular packs and subscriptions are still only available with PayPay - however, special new 7-day subscription has been added for phone/SMS payments. This allows lower pricing, since the service only support mini-transactions. Every time you extend your subscription before it ends, you get 3 additional days for free.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Additional options for Scenarios
There are lots of great ideas on the forum regarding scenarios. While we obviously couldn't implement all of them, we've done some very promising modifications:

  • Scenarios can now have customized units! Stats still have to be based on the standard units, but you can change name, picture and description - or disable the unit.
  • Country name, income, picture and names of the cities can now be changed.
  • Scenario players's names and starting funds can be changed (previously you had to delete/re-add the player).
  • Scenario side is now selectable after another player selected it and left.
  • Fixed late joiners 0 income.
  • You can now set the rare units chance in scenario options.
  • 100 additional cities option when creating a scenario

Today we finally unveil the long-awaited new feature: Scenarios. We hope it will make the game more versatile, allow some creative player input and add a new twist to the gameplay. It will probably add a few bugs too, but we promise to fix them as soon as possible - your job is to seek them out and report

    What are Scenarios?
Scenarios are, basically, game presets created by players. They can range from a simple custom map preset to a full-blown scenario with teams, players, pre-set unit placement and events. Things that can be altered include:

    - Customized map preset (enable/disable countries)
    - Teams, players and their colors
    - Starting countries and units
    - Turn events: text and additional units on the map
    - Victory condition and some preset options

As promised, we are going to continue Afterwind development - and here are a few ideas will very likely get implemented in the near future:

    Scenarios
This feature will allow creating custom scenarios by selecting countries, settings, victory condition, placing troops and creating pre-built empires for players to control. This will allow players to have their own creative input into the game and will present opportunities for entirely new gameplay.

    Collectable cards
Cards will be awarded during the game - subsequently, you can redeem them to receive various bonuses (rare units, increase in production or income, etc). Unused cards will remain for the next game - however, there will be a limit on how many cards you can use per game. The second function of cards will be collecting cities/countries on your own personal world map. Each card will feature a random city, which you can then place on your map.

Glorious moment is upon us, fellow players! And yet... things around seem strangely unchanged. That is probably because for most of you (those who joined before today), things largely remained the same - except you now have a free lifetime subscription and a nice little trophy in your profile. There are a few other minor differences, like, for example, name change is now free and Anti-aircraft, Lucky Bastard, Great Combinator and Iron Fist are now available from the beginning and are no longer upgrades.

As for new players, they can still play the game for free, with hardly any inconveniences. Should they want more, there are extra features which are available with subscription or a feature pack - they can be found here.

So, the big announcement is: we have decided that the current game setup - world map, modern units etc is rather boring, so to spice things up we want to change the settings to the Star Wars universe, with the map of the 'Galaxy far, far away' and Imperial/Rebel units instead of the boring-ass tanks and infantry. The game name will also change - to Starwind. So far you can only sample this new development in terms of rare units, with everything else is coming tomorrow!

Anyway, seriously... The current version is the 1.0 release candidate, and is rather identical to the previous one, except we fixed some bugs and added the new medal coming after Gold: Crimson (because Platinum is lame).

OK, we couldn't help ourselves and decided to make one last mini-update before 1.0 - the stuff was too good to make you guys wait

  • Amazing new mini-menu for troop movement. Opens instead of the tooltip when you hover on your army, allowing you to easily move individual units or unit groups (all land/air/naval). Just click on the unit in the menu, or drag it from there. To move the whole group, use the bracket above the unit icons (it only shows if there's more than one group and there's more than one unit in it). The old tooltip is still used for opponent armies and for battles - it now also has unit icons in it.

  • Old colors have been tweaked and new colors have been added, allowing for maximum 20 players in one game! Hopefully it's now also easier to distinguish different colors.
